Bombé Chest, French-born chests were actually named for their resemblance to those rotund explosives. 

A bombé commode or chest has an outward curving or bulging shape.

Bombé refers to a style of chest or table that has such an outward-bulging in the front and sides, which then curves inward at the base.

While this style of chest was developed in the 17th century, bombe chests are available in antique as well as contemporary styles. So depending on the decor of a home, either style can be chosen.
